Wasilla Real Estate
Wasilla revived it’s name from Chief Wasilla, a local Dena’ina Chief, and more recently was put on the national road map by it’s previous mayor and the Alaskan Governor Sara Palin. Located in the northern point of the Cook Inlet, in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley’s, Wasilla’s population grew from 5,469 in 2000 to an estimate of 9,789 in 2007.
As the Matanuska-Susitna Borough’s largest City, it is considered a part of the greater Anchorage metropolitan area, as many Anchorage workers choose to live in Wasilla, and commute the 40 minute drive to Anchorage. Among the reasons people choose to live in Wasilla includes quality of life issues, and the cost of housing, which is about a 1/3 less than the Anchorage real estate market.
